As 2016 begins, the great news is that 2015 was another record year for Irish Wind Energy.
Provisional EirGrid statistics show that over 24% of Ireland’s electricity demand was met purely from wind energy through the year. It wasn’t just recent storms which have provided additional wind power to Ireland but the windiest June on record helped contribute to another record that month in terms of energy demand met for Ireland.
A report launched by the Sustainable Energy Authority mapping Ireland’s energy use in 2014 showed that wind energy in Ireland saved over €200m in savings on fossil fuel imports.
